European Powerboat of the Year 2022 winner in displacement boats category – the yacht Beneteau Grand Trawler 62 develops ideas laid down in Swift Trawler range of cruisers. Beneteau shipbuilders together with MICAD engineers and Nauta Design created the cruise yacht Grand Trawler 62 for those sailors, who want to transfer to a boat that is easy to operate, on board of which you can safely live for weeks at sea.
Make Yourself at Home
The 31 m² flybridge, covered with a hardtop, includes a large sofa, a breakfast bar, a sunbathing area, a device that lowers the tender from the upper deck or lifts it from a 9 m² transom platform and, of course, a helm station. In the stern, the flybridge hangs over the cockpit, in which you immediately notice an unusual device - a transparent partition with retractable consoles that separates the cockpit from the platform and the sea astern.
The interior space is clearly zoned: a living room, a dining room with a galley, a control post. One of the saloon’s features is an internal ladder that provides access to the flybridge in addition to the cockpit ladder. A modern elevated control post is equipped with all the necessary navigational instruments, communications and control devices for engines and other ship systems.
Minimalism in interiors does not exclude functionality and elegance. In the standard version, walnut or light oak wood, natural leather and textiles are used for decoration, furniture and partitions.
Grand Trawler 62 is offered in three or four cabin versions. In the first version, the master cabin is located amidships across the entire width of the hull; in the second version, it is replaced by two symmetrical cabins, and the owner is offered a VIP cabin in the bow. All cabins are up to 2 m high, well-lit and furnished. For the crew, a room is provided in the aft part with a separate entrance. In the absence of a team, instead of a cabin, a guest cabin or storage compartment can be equipped here.
Go Far at Great Speed
Despite the fact that the body of the Grand Trawler 62 has displacement contours and planing is not an option, the yacht develops a cruising speed of just over 20 knots on MAN 730 HP engines. But the shipyard did not set out to make a high-speed cruiser out of a yacht. The main thing is stability, autonomy and comfort during a long voyage.
If at maximum speed the boat will pass a little more than 250 miles without refueling, then at a speed of 9 knots the autonomy will be 900 miles.
