The first edition of Foiling World is set to occur at boot Düsseldorf in 2025, showcasing the newest gear and foiling technologies, along with discussions and presentations.
Foiling World is backed by boot and The Foiling Organization, in partnership with various global foiling sports and industry stakeholders, clubs, and event organizers.
Many of the sessions featured in the Foiling World program are the outcome of a collaboration between The Foiling Organization and the European Boating Industry, forming part of the Blue Innovation Dock - a project aimed at revolutionizing the boating sector towards a sustainable future by creating innovative solutions.
Prominent attractions at Foiling World, held in Hall 15, will include two AC40 simulators and cutting-edge equipment crafted by McConaghy Boats, generously provided by America’s Cup teams Emirates Team New Zealand and AC Team Germany for attendees to test their abilities.
Visitors can also expect to witness the latest e-foil technology from the IMOCA class, as well as Candela’s revolutionary flying electric boats on display.
Furthermore, there will be interactive sessions featuring professional sailors like Dee Caffari, Elizabeth Tucker, and Cole Brauer, streaming live from the Indian Ocean.
“We are witnessing a growing interest in foiling every year, and I am eager to shed more light on this dimension of our sport, which is gaining traction in terms of popularity, engagement, and performance across various water-based activities,” expressed Dee, who is scheduled to deliver a keynote address alongside Luca Rizzotti, the founder, and president of The Foiling Organization.
The unveiling of the MW40 Offshore Foiler racing yacht, designed by Wilson-Marquinez Naval Architects in collaboration with the Sailing Architect marketing and development agency, is slated for January 18th.
The design concept for the 12.2m yacht by Wilson-Marquinez was initially revealed in 2021, and the boat is now poised for construction.
Both onsite at Foiling World and online via Virtual Regatta and Discord, E-sailing will be a focal point, in partnership with the Swedish Sailing Federation, Royal Swedish Yacht Club, and Tristan Peron, the eSailing world champion.
On January 23, Foiling World will convene a round table discussion to bring together national sailing federations, event organizers, sponsors, and other key figures in the industry to deliberate on the future directions of e-sailing.
Finally, on January 24, Foiling World will host the premiere of the OD Metis 45, the new foiling racer envisioned by Sangiorgio Marine owner and engineer Edoardo Bianchi in collaboration with designer Gianluca Guelfi.
This six-crew vessel is designed to bridge the gap between the 40-footers and the IMOCA 60.
