After 12 years at the helm of the boat show, Johan Hasser, the head of Sanctuary Cove, has decided to resign from his position.
Johan served as the general manager of Mulpha Events, the organization responsible for managing the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) and the Sydney International Boat Show.
Patrick Lonergan, the head of hotel, hospitality, and leisure at Mulpha Australia, praised Johan's leadership, stating, “Johan has elevated the show to new levels, establishing it as a prominent event in the global marine industry. His impact goes beyond SCIBS, with significant growth in the events division under his direction.”
Under Johan's guidance, the 2024 SCIBS achieved record-breaking numbers, including 335 exhibitors, 43,741 visitors, 767 boats on display, 102 product unveilings, and over 2,500 marine products.
Reflecting on his tenure, Johan expressed his pride in the accomplishments of his team at Mulpha Events, saying, “The progress of SCIBS and the introduction of new events demonstrate our dedication to excellence. I am confident that Mulpha Events will continue to prosper.”
The search for Johan's successor is currently in progress. In the meantime, Corey Rattray-Wood, the senior events manager who collaborated closely with Johan, will assume leadership responsibilities.
Patrick emphasized Corey's integral role in the organization's achievements and his commitment to maintaining operational continuity as they look forward to an exciting upcoming year.
Highlighting the company's dedication to delivering exceptional experiences for participants, exhibitors, and partners, Patrick reiterated their appreciation for Johan's significant impact and wished him success in his future pursuits.
The upcoming edition of SCIBS is scheduled for May, while the Sydney International Boat Show, in partnership with the Boating Industry Association, will be held from July 31 to August 3.
