A horizontal windlass is apt for boats ranging from 10 to 13 meters, offering optimal performance and functionality when there's sufficient deck space, or if chain lockers are small or difficult to access. It's easy to operate, reliable, and has a classic, timeless style, making it suitable for various vessels, including those in the charter business.
Constructed with marine-grade aluminum alloy, the windlass has a polished and anodized body. Most components are created through hot forging.
The electric motor is designed to deliver high torque under all working conditions. With an IP66 rating, the motor features a galvanized body coated with polyester paint. It is engineered to provide the necessary power for long periods and operate at high speeds to minimize operation time.
A high-efficiency worm screw gearbox made by Lofrans is utilized. This non-reversible gearbox is made from materials capable of withstanding high-load strain. To reduce working noise, the gearbox is lubricated with oil.
The windlass includes a manual override for chain recovery in case of electrical failures. This feature also serves as a safety mechanism to prevent chain jams from damaging the deck.
Users have the option to use the drum for warping operations independently of the gypsy with this model.
The KOBRA model can be optionally equipped with an AUTOMATIC FREE FALL device. By pressing the "Down" button on the remote control unit, this device disengages the clutch automatically, allowing the gypsy to rotate freely and release the anchor chain into the water due to the anchor's weight.
