How important for protection purposes are the dimensions of diameter and length and the number of fenders on board? The integrity of the sides of your boat depends on the correct consideration of these parameters when buying fenders. Therefore, you should know that:
- for every 2.5-3 meters of the side, you need to buy one fender;
- the minimum diameter for inflatable cylindrical fenders is 2.5 cm for every 120 cm of boat length (for this particular model - 22 cm: 2.5 cm x 120 cm = 10.56 m);
- the reduction in the impact force at each individual point of the side due to the shock-absorbing effect provided by the fender directly depends on its length and diameter.
So if you want to increase the damping effect, calculate the necessary sufficient diameter for your boat, and then simply proceed from the length parameters. Keep in mind that when suspended, the fender may touch the water, but must not float.
The advantage of an inflatable fender with two eyes at the top and bottom is that you can mount them vertically and horizontally, even in two places at once. Double fastening at different ends prevents the fenders from swinging even during strong winds, so the side is not exposed. You also do not risk losing the fenders due to their strong swinging.
