Elon Musk's Starlink communications satellites have encircled Earth, sparking excitement among boaters about the potential of staying connected and accessing the internet from any location. RoamSat contributes to making this vision a reality by offering compact, self-contained kits for Starlink satellite receivers. The RoamSat unit is a weather-resistant CNC-machined polyethylene box equipped with an internal LiFePO4 battery that can provide up to 10 hours of service on a single charge. Additionally, it features four vacuum-suction feet that enable boaters to securely attach the unit to a hardtop or any other flat, smooth horizontal surface.
Specifically designed to accommodate a separately purchased Starlink satellite receiver, the RoamSat housing weighs 22 pounds and measures 22 by 13.5 by 3 inches, providing space for a Starlink Gen2 Roam Dish. Alternatively, a larger version weighing 27 pounds and measuring 25 by 16.5 by 3.25 inches is available to house a Gen3 Roam Dish. One of the key advantages of this system is the absence of the need to drill holes for installation or to lay cables and wires to connect the unit.
Activating the system is as simple as turning on the power switch located externally on the RoamSat. With an unobstructed view of the sky, multiple users can conveniently access the internet on their mobile devices or computers. The kit includes a 110-/220-volt AC charger, which can simultaneously charge the internal battery and power the unit via AC voltage. The price is $2,695 without a dish or Starlink service plan; more information is available at roamsat.com.
