The inReach Messenger Plus is Garmin's initial satellite communicator offering photo and voice messaging capabilities in addition to global two-way texting, location sharing, and SOS functions, enhancing a boater's communication options when off the grid. With a long-lasting battery life that can span weeks, this device provides worldwide coverage through the Iridium satellite network. Like its predecessor, the original inReach Messenger, it can function independently or be connected to a compatible smartphone using the Garmin Messenger mobile app.

The Messenger Plus, measuring only 2.5 by 3 inches, is water-resistant up to IPX7 standards, capable of withstanding incidental water exposure up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. In case of an emergency, this device and the Messenger app can dispatch an interactive SOS text message to Garmin Response, an around-the-clock international emergency assistance center. Photo and voice messages can also be shared during an SOS situation, enabling response coordinators to have visual and audio insights into the emergency. The device requires an unobstructed view of the sky for efficient satellite communication.
