Around 200 boats from 50 exhibitors worldwide took part in the Boating Sanya 2024 boat show. The gentle sea breeze that swept through the event every day indicated a promising season for the Chinese boating industry. This renowned event has become one of the main international platforms for the industry.
The Boating Sanya event concluded successfully on December 8, marking a significant milestone in the global yacht industry. The exhibition showcased high-quality boats from various countries, fostering valuable interactions among boating enthusiasts, investors, and industry professionals. With hundreds of boats on exhibit, the show also highlighted Sanya’s reputation as the “city of a thousand boats.”
Sanya, a charming city overlooking the South China Sea, is a prominent destination for nautical tourism. It features a vast coastline with top-notch marinas, clear waters, unique natural scenery, and a tropical climate year-round. These favorable conditions, coupled with the growth of Sanya's boating sector, offer promising opportunities for further development—a sentiment evident throughout the Boating Sanya show.
Sanya has been focusing on revitalizing the boating industry by establishing an innovative pilot zone. This includes implementing an open-yacht policy, standardizing tourism practices, enhancing services, and driving sector growth. The city is home to over 7,300 yacht-related businesses, representing more than half of Hainan's total and 22.7% of China’s yacht industry companies. With over 1,400 registered yachts, Sanya has positioned itself as a key player in the sector, earning the moniker “City of a Thousand Boats.”
The theme for this year's Boating Sanya, “Raising Sails in Sanya, ‘Boating’ into the Free Trade Port,” reflects the city’s ambitious goal of leveraging its maritime resources, connecting globally, and solidifying its status as a central hub for international nautical tourism.
Boating Sanya 2024 was characterized by a lively atmosphere, featuring a range of activities such as fashion and lifestyle exhibitions, yacht premieres, marine photography displays, thematic forums, and award ceremonies. The event culminated in the highly anticipated “China Yacht Awards Ceremony,” shining a light on emerging trends in yacht design and innovation.
The event attracted 45 brands and 50 exhibitors from ten countries, including renowned names like Beneteau and Azimut, showcasing approximately 200 boats in total. With sales exceeding 10 million yen and nearly 20,000 attendees, Boating Sanya underscored Sanya’s growing importance in the global yacht market. Additionally, a special video and photography contest celebrated Sanya’s unique yachting culture and lifestyle, enriching the overall experience for both exhibitors and visitors.
Following the success of the event, Sanya remains dedicated to advancing the Hainan Free Trade Port initiative with a more open and practical approach. This strategic move aims to enhance accessibility, improve the business environment, and boost regional influence, laying a solid foundation for the flourishing recreational boating industry.
