Queensland's Sandstone Point Marina is set to undergo a substantial multi-million dollar enhancement, aiming to revamp its dock and boat ramp area. The upgrade plans involve the introduction of new and improved amenities, along with enhanced entertainment spaces for visitors.
Among the proposed improvements is the construction of a waterside deck surrounded by outdoor seating, complemented by fresh landscaping to enhance the overall ambiance of the marina.
Simultaneously, a new waterfront apartment complex is in the works to be developed on the site currently occupied by the dry stack storage facility. Ignite Projects, the development group overseeing the acquisition of the marina, will also take charge of the marine lease covering 150 berths and associated landholdings.
The marina's existing dry stack storage offers facilities for boats up to 7 meters, along with hard stand storage for boats up to 8 meters in length.
Director of Ignite Projects, Josh Foote, expressed that the upgrade signifies a natural evolution for the marina, aligning with various upcoming developments and infrastructure enhancements. These include the duplication of the Bribie bridge and the widening of the Caboolture-Bribie Island Road.
The primary goal of the proposed upgrade is to inject new vitality into the marina precinct, fostering a more attractive waterfront environment and introducing modern facilities for visitors.
While confirming that the 150 berths and the current fuel dock will remain unchanged, Foote acknowledged that transitioning away from the dry stack and lifting facilities may pose some inconvenience to marina users. However, he emphasized that this presents an opportunity to elevate the overall marina experience for the community.
In addition to the structural changes, the marina currently offers an array of boat maintenance and repair services, including antifouling, fibreglass work, and detailing.
The upcoming transformation at Sandstone Point Marina promises a new chapter in its legacy, embracing progress and innovation to cater to the evolving needs of visitors and boating enthusiasts.
