IBC Shipyard Becomes a Member of the SEA Index Association

IBC Shipyard has become the first shipyard in the Caribbean to be granted Corporate Membership status by the SEA Index Superyacht Eco Association. This milestone places the shipyard alongside prominent European facilities such as Monaco Marine and MB92 La Ciotat in their commitment to sustainable yacht maintenance and marine conservation.

By aligning with the SEA Index, IBC Shipyard underscores its dedication to sustainability and operational excellence within the marine industry. The shipyard's participation in the association marks a pivotal step in promoting environmental accountability and ecological preservation efforts across the yachting sector.

Moreover, IBC Shipyard plans to advocate for the adoption of the SEA Index's environmental assessment tools among its clientele. This initiative is aimed at encouraging more yacht owners and operators in the region to incorporate these sustainability measures into their operations.

Alice Caslini, the marketing and social responsibility director of IB Náutica Group, which encompasses IBC Shipyard, emphasized the natural alignment of their goals with the SEA Index's mission. "Joining the SEA Index aligns perfectly with our commitment to environmental stewardship and maintaining the highest standards in luxury boating," Caslini stated.

The SEA Index, initiated in 2020 by the Yacht Club de Monaco under the Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting initiative, strives to elevate environmental consciousness within the yachting industry. The association focuses on reducing CO₂ emissions and enhancing transparency concerning marine environmental impacts.

Utilizing methodologies endorsed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), including EEDI and EEXI standards adapted for superyachts longer than 24 meters, SEA Index provides tools to assess and diminish the environmental footprint of marine vessels. The certification program is designed to foster an ecosystem of sustainable practices and innovations in luxury yachting.

Through this collaboration, IBC Shipyard aims to lead by example in promoting environmentally responsible practices and supporting the global yachting community's transition towards more sustainable operations. The association’s broader mission is to assist yacht owners in adopting less energy-intensive practices, thus contributing to a more sustainable future for luxury boating.
