ACEL Power, a Canadian company, has secured a significant deal with a Chinese boatbuilder for 1,000 electric propulsion units, marking a milestone agreement.
The collaboration involves Gospel Boat committing to purchasing these units over the next five years, as per a binding Letter of Intent signed between the two companies.
Gospel Boat, known for producing 1,400 boats annually ranging from pontoons to catamarans, plans to electrify its product line. The company aims to have at least 10% of its boats equipped with electric propulsion in the first year, increasing to 20% by the fifth year.
The initial batch of electric boats is scheduled for export by mid-2025, signifying a shift towards sustainable marine practices.
Jack Li, the Managing Director of Gospel Boat, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with ACEL Power, emphasizing the importance of innovation in shaping the future of boating and sustainable marine experiences globally.
Anthony Liu, the CEO of ACEL Power, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the joint dedication to sustainability and innovation in the marine industry.
ACEL Power's contribution will be its Intelligent Electric Series, introduced in 2024, which includes models like IE50 (50hp) and IE75 (75hp). These systems comprise electric outboards, battery packs, intelligent power supply, smart chargers, digital throttles, and onboard computers.
The electric propulsion units boast an impressive 95.8% powertrain efficiency and support AC/DC fast-charging, enabling real-time performance monitoring through proprietary software.
Gospel Boat, headquartered in Qingdao, China, specializes in premium aluminum boat design, manufacturing, and export.
Meanwhile, ACEL Power, based in Vancouver, Canada, focuses on producing electric outboard propulsion systems. Its current lineup includes 50hp and 75hp models, with plans to introduce 150hp and 250hp outboards in 2025.
