The seawater desalination system on board the boat is a guarantee of comfort, safety and autonomy of navigation, as well as significant savings in fresh water replenishment.
1. Desalination by reverse osmosis is performed by the passage of seawater under high pressure through a very thin semi-permeable membrane.
2. Only pure water molecules can pass through this membrane, while mineral salts and impurities, including biological ones (viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms) are retained.
3. Desalination by reverse osmosis is carried out under high pressure. To create pressure, a high pressure pump and a valve to release the brine into the sea are added to the plant.
4. On one side of the membrane, clean fresh water is collected and on the other side salts and impurities remain, which then get removed.
