The SNSM receives over 42,000 euros from a successful auction

The second edition of the "Treasure on the Map" auction, organized by the SEAtizens association, raised €42,332.24, instead of the previously announced €25,000, to support sea rescue efforts. Held on December 3rd at the Fondation Lafayette Anticipations in Paris, this event brought sailors and artists together with a common goal: to fund the vital missions of the National Society of Sea Rescue (SNSM) and other initiatives dedicated to coastal protection. The concept of "Treasure on the Map" is based on an original and symbolic idea: using sea charts, offered by renowned skippers, as a backdrop for unique works of art. During this second edition, 50 navigators shared their personal sea charts, each marked by memories and maritime adventures.

These charts, signed and dedicated by the sailors, were then handed over to 60 artists, who used them as backgrounds and support, transforming them into true works of art through various techniques: painting, sculpture, collage, photography, or drawing.

These creations, imbued with strong emotional charge, reflect the intimate stories of sailors and the creativity of the artists. All the works were put up for sale at this exceptional evening, generating a total of €129,000, with a portion being donated to the SNSM.

The amount of €25,000 allocated to the SNSM will directly contribute to funding its essential activities. With its 206 rescue stations spread across the French coastline and its 32 training and intervention centers, the association intervenes each year to rescue thousands of people at sea and on beaches.

As a recognized public utility association, the SNSM relies largely on the generosity of its donors, as public subsidies only represent a fraction of its budget. As the association emphasizes: "Human life is priceless, but rescue has a cost." Thanks to the funds raised, the SNSM will be able to renew its aging vessels, modernize its equipment, and ensure the training of its 11,000 volunteers, rescuers who dedicate their free time to sometimes perilous missions.

For SEAtizens, the organizer of "Treasure on the Map," this initiative highlights the importance of solidarity among sea enthusiasts. The association emphasizes that this project would not have been possible without the commitment of participating sailors and artists, as well as that of the buyers who rallied for the cause.

"Thank you to SEAtizens for its valuable support," stated the SNSM in a press release, reminding that every donation counts to continue saving lives and training future rescuers. The SNSM invites all sea lovers to support its missions by contributing financially. Donations can be made directly on their official website jesoutiens.snsm.org.

Meanwhile, the artworks created as part of "Treasure on the Map" remain visible on the event's website: tresor-carte.org.

Founded to protect and rescue, the SNSM is a key player in sea rescue in France. With funding based on nearly 60% from private donations, it ensures interventions 24 hours a day while training competent rescuers. The association's recognition as a Grand National Cause in 2017 attests to its essential role.
