Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi to Attend Nauticsud 2025 Event

The Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, is set to make an appearance at the Nauticsud 2025, a prominent boating exhibition currently underway at the Mostra d’Oltremare. This event, organized by the Italian Nautical Industry Association (Afina) in partnership with Mostra d’Oltremare, is crucial for the nautical sector both from a commercial and institutional standpoint.

Marinas and Tourist Ports: A Critical Topic for Industry Growth

The arrival of Mayor Manfredi at the event provides an opportunity to address the ongoing issues surrounding Naples' moorings, a topic that has engaged both the city administration and industry stakeholders for years. The president of Afina, Gennaro Amato, emphasized the role of Nauticsud as a benchmark for the development of recreational boating and local shipbuilding:

"With Mayor Manfredi, we maintain a constant dialogue to address the mooring issues. We are working to identify tangible solutions that can support the development of the sector along the entire coastline, from Bagnoli to Vigliena, including Naples' central coast. Our goal is to create new infrastructure for recreational boating, contributing to the growth of the sector."

The mooring issue isn't just an infrastructural matter but also an economic one: recreational boating is a strategic sector for Naples and its surrounding area, generating both direct and indirect employment among shipyards, boat, dinghy and yacht manufacturers, service providers, and nautical tourism. A lack of tourist ports could jeopardize an entire supply chain, negatively impacting an economy that stands out as one of Southern Italy's production excellences.

Projects and Initial Signs of Development

The city administration has long initiated a plan to tackle this issue. Several projects are currently under review, with initial initiatives beginning to materialize in the eastern part of the city. The aim is to ensure adequate infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of boats and support local businesses operating in the sector.

During Mayor Manfredi’s visit, discussions with industry stakeholders will provide an opportunity to debate strategies and available resources to enhance the competitiveness of recreational boating in Naples.

Afina and the Commitment to Solidarity

Alongside the exhibition, Afina also hosted its annual members' dinner at Ciro a Mergellina restaurant, an occasion to review the association’s activities over the past year. The event featured participation from the executive board, led by President Gennaro Amato and Treasurer Ugo Lanzetta, who celebrated the achievements with the traditional cake cutting for the 51st Nauticsud.

As it does annually, Afina renewed its commitment to social causes with a donation of 7,000 euros to the Santobono Pausilipon Foundation, presented to President Anna Maria Ziccardi and Director Flavia Matrisciano. This gesture underlines the association’s support for families and children receiving care at the pediatric hospital, reaffirming Afina's focus on social responsibility initiatives.

Conclusions

Mayor Manfredi's presence at Nauticsud 2025 underscores the importance of the nautical sector to the local economy and the city administration's attention to the needs of industry operators. The event is a vital platform for discussing infrastructure, investments, and growth strategies to ensure Naples plays an increasingly central role in Italy's recreational boating scene.
