Twin Disc has successfully finalized the acquisition of Kobelt Manufacturing Co. Ltd., a Canadian marine systems manufacturer, for a total of $16.5 million. This strategic move aims to broaden Kobelt's global presence and enrich Twin Disc’s product lineup in both the industrial and marine markets.

Kobelt, located in British Columbia, is renowned for its in-house foundry and capabilities in bronze die casting, precision machining, assembly, and testing. These advanced facilities, along with comprehensive after-sales services, enhance product quality assurance.

John Batten, the President and CEO of Twin Disc, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We are thrilled to integrate Kobelt into the Twin Disc brand family. Kobelt’s established presence in over 60 countries and their reputable standing in the industry aligns perfectly with our brand values and expands our reach.”

John Batten further elaborated on the benefits of this merger, highlighting that it "broadens our product range, opening up further growth opportunities and partnerships across our extensive global sales and service network."

Dave Bockhold, CEO of Kobelt, also commented on the acquisition, noting, “Joining forces with Twin Disc is a strategic fit for us. The synergy between our product lines, manufacturing processes, and corporate cultures will strengthen our position as a comprehensive systems provider in both the marine and industrial sectors.”

He added that the combined expertise and historical knowledge of both companies would enhance the value offered to their customers and broaden the scope of their market opportunities.

For the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024, Kobelt reported revenues of approximately $14 million. This acquisition is expected to immediately contribute positively to the earnings of Twin Disc in the United States.

Twin Disc is widely recognized for its advanced power transmission technology, which serves both marine and terrestrial applications. The company boasts a robust sales force and a network of distributors, delivering solutions primarily to the pleasure craft, commercial and military marine sectors, as well as industries involved in energy, natural resources, government, and industrial operations.

With over six decades of experience, Kobelt excels in the design and manufacture of braking, control, and steering systems tailored for the marine and industrial sectors. Their expertise and innovative solutions have made them a leader in their field.
