Zim Sailing has recently received the green light from the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) to operate as a builder of the association’s class-legal boats within the United States.
ILCA has confirmed that Zim has effectively gone through an extensive certification process, obtaining the necessary approvals from both ILCA and World Sailing technical departments.
This certification procedure aligns with World Sailing’s Olympic Equipment Policy, ensuring that all requirements are met before granting the approval.
The dinghies crafted by Zim adhere to ILCA regulations, making them permissible for use in ILCA events and competitions.
George Yioulos, the representative of Zim Sailing, expressed great excitement about becoming an officially approved ILCA builder in North America.
Yioulos further stated, “The certification process has been rigorous, but the assistance provided by ILCA and World Sailing has been exceptional.
He emphasized, “With almost two decades of experience in the class, our company is committed to supporting local and regional dealers who are actively promoting sailing on a daily basis.
“Our dedication to sailing and our expertise as dinghy manufacturers aim to instill confidence in sailors to explore the American-made Zim ILCA.”
Operating from Bristol, Rhode Island, Zim Sailing presently manufactures ILCA, ISCA, FJ, and 420E dinghies at its production facility.
In addition to boat production, Zim will supply ILCA parts as well.
ILCA stands as a self-governing international organization that is self-supported, offering coordination, structure, and communication services for the class.
