A waterproof valve is built in to regulate internal pressure and maintain tightness. Made from a polymer alloy not subject to:
When mooring, a strong wave or the inertia of the course can be great to pull the boat right next to the pier wall and, in order to avoid dents, shipowners buy mooring fenders. They are placed as a buffer to absorb impact from collisions. They are also hung from the sides of two ships when docking or joint side-on mooring to avoid friction and scratching of the coating.
The dimensions of the fender are chosen based on individual conditions, they are not regulated by the the maritime rules, but standard practice shows that the required minimum diameter is 2.5-3 cm for every 120 cm of the length of the side of the boat. Of course, under conditions of strong sea waves, dangerous maneuvering and unequipped berths, it is desirable to have a larger fender diameter.
Fenders are fastened with ropes or chains with the valve up at the required height. For example, in floating docks it is common to install safety devices above the waterline, although normally when mooring, the lower end of the cylindrical fender should almost touch the water, but not float.
