The pitot tube sender, along with its bracket and hose, enables pitot tube-type speedometers to measure water speed. Water pressure from the pitot tube is transmitted through the hose to the bourdon tube movement inside the speedometer head. This pressure is converted into a speed reading, providing an indication of the boat's speed on the water.
