The NMEA 2000 Tank Adapter YDTA-04 offers the capability to connect up to four existing resistive or voltage-type fluid level sensors installed on tanks, providing fluid level display on NMEA 2000 devices, including chart plotters.
This adaptable device can be configured to report one of the seven fluid types specified in the NMEA 2000 standard: Diesel Fuel, Gasoline Fuel, Oil, Fresh Water, Waste Water, Black Water (Sewage), or Live Well. Users can configure up to 16 tanks of one type within the NMEA 2000 network.
Compatible with European (10 to 180 Ohm range), American (240 to 33 Ohm range), or Japanese (0 to 310 Ohm range) standard fluid level sensors, as well as nonstandard sensors with a maximum resistance below 400 Ohm, the Adapter also supports fluid level sensors producing an analog voltage signal in the 0 to 16 Volts range.
Installation options include standalone use as a measuring device, parallel connection with an existing analog gauge or integration with a Volvo Penta engine's MDI (Mechanical Diesel Interface) box. Additionally, compatibility extends to combined gauges with button selection functionality. Each of the four measuring channels may possess individual settings, with fluid tank level sensor readings calibratable via 12 calibration points to ensure accuracy across various tank shapes.
The Device features a hidden button enabling selection among 15 configuration presets (refer to Section V of the Manual). For advanced configuration needs, such as calibration curves or digital switching functions, an NMEA 2000 PC gateway or MFD with installation description string editing capabilities is necessary. Firmware updates are exclusively available through Yacht Devices gateways (Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet).
Settings allow for the aggregation of multiple tanks to calculate "Estimated Fuel Remaining" data for PGN 127496 "Trip Fuel Consumption, Vessel," which displays the sum of fuel volumes in selected tanks.
Furthermore, the Adapter can control load channels of NMEA 2000 digital switching equipment, supporting up to eight different conditions for each measuring channel. For instance, it can trigger digital switching equipment functions like alarms or pump activation.
Powered by the NMEA 2000 network, the Device ensures high-voltage galvanic isolation between NMEA 2000 and sensor inputs, enhancing safety and reliability.
