The Gateway serves as a pivotal link, connecting navigation PCs and laptops to NMEA 2000 via various networks, including Ethernet, Garmin Marine Network, Raymarine SeaTalk HS and RayNet, Furuno NavNet, or NMEA OneNet. It not only facilitates data exchange but also enables the bridging of NMEA 2000 networks, ensuring seamless integration.

Equipped with a standard Ethernet RJ45 connector, the Gateway may require a proprietary adapter for vessel network connections, although direct connection to a PC using a standard computer cable is also supported.

This versatile device provides NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 data streams through TCP and/or UDP protocols, featuring a bi-directional converter between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000. This functionality allows the visualization of navigational data, including AIS, and management of NMEA equipment, such as autopilot, from a variety of marine software, including OpenCPN (NMEA 0183 only) and Expedition 10 (supporting both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 protocols). With three data servers (TCP/UDP), the Gateway allows tailored settings for different applications.

The built-in web site offers a Web Gauges page for the real-time management of autopilot and digital switching equipment, as well as the viewing of vessel data via a web browser on PCs, laptops, tablets, or smartphones—no internet connection or app installation required. This accessibility extends to monitoring and managing vessels remotely if the boat's Ethernet network is accessible over the internet.

Key features of the Gateway include:

  • Configuration flexibility for static IP address, automatic IP acquisition, or functioning as a DHCP server.
  • Compatibility with 10 Mb/s, 100 Mb/s, and 1000 Mb/s Ethernet networks.
  • High-voltage galvanic isolation between NMEA 2000 and Ethernet interfaces.
  • Support for mDNS and Bonjour protocols, facilitating easy discovery in the network.
  • Power drawn directly from NMEA 2000 with low consumption (less than 50 mA).
  • Capable of bridging two NMEA 2000 segments over Ethernet when paired with another Gateway.

The Gateway's built-in web site facilitates configuration, firmware updates, and diagnostics, allowing users to view NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 data streams directly from a web browser. The device automatically records track data, including weather and depth, to internal memory (up to 12000 points), and users can save this data in GPX or CSV formats through the internal web interface.

With an internet connection, the Gateway can seamlessly upload recorded data to a Cloud Service, providing convenient access to tracks, remote monitoring of boats, and the ability to share vessel positions with family and friends.
