The NMEA 2000 Rudder Angle Adapter YDRA-01 offers seamless integration of resistive type rudder angle sensors installed on a rudder, providing NMEA 2000 autopilots, chart plotters, and other devices with accurate rudder angle data.

Compatible with a variety of rudder angle sensors, including those with maximal resistance below 400 Ohm, the adapter supports European (10 to 180 Ohm range) or American (240 to 33 Ohm range) standard sensors, as well as 0-5V voltage output sensors.

Installation options are versatile, allowing standalone use as a measuring device, collaboration with a digital gauge, or parallel integration with an existing analog gauge (supporting 2-coils and 1-coils gauges, see Picture 2). Compatibility extends to combined gauges featuring button-based value selection.

Rudder angle readings can be precisely calibrated with up to 7 calibration points to account for sensor non-linearity, and compensation for parasitic resistance in sensor wires is achievable through device settings.

Equipped with a Micro SD card slot, the Adapter facilitates configuration, firmware updates, diagnostics, and data logging without the need for special software. A simple text editor on a device with a MicroSD card reader is sufficient for these tasks.

Special features include the ability to function as a trim tabs sensor adapter (requiring two devices when tabs are not synchronized) and support for the display of non-standard data types on Garmin MFDs, such as rotary mast angle.

The Device draws power from the NMEA 2000 network and ensures high-voltage galvanic isolation between NMEA 2000 and sensor inputs.

Compatibility extends to a wide range of equipment supporting NMEA 2000, including Raymarine SeaTalk NG, Simrad SimNet, and Furuno CAN networks (branded versions of NMEA 2000) that differ only by connector type. Garmin devices, utilizing the NMEA 2000 Micro connector, are also seamlessly compatible with the DeviceNet Micro connector used by the Adapter.
