Michel Dufour, engineer and yachtsman, founded his shipyard in La Rochelle in France as early as 1964. Dufour Yachts is one of the pioneers of fiberglass shipbuilding, which has brought them worldwide fame. Keeping pace with the times, in the early 90s, the Dufour shipyard Yachts is once again blowing up the market with the concept of ready-to-go yachts. The idea was embodied in the Dufour line Classic - graceful yachts with a high level of comfort.

Dufour yachts models, 100% made in France, are thought-out, designed and built in La Rochelle, at company headquarters. Firm Dufour Yachts manufactures around 400 sailboats a year and controls the entire supply chain, from project development to expedition, including assembly and woodwork.

With a production capacity of over 18,000 m² and 420 full-time employees, Dufour Yachts is considered one of the largest shipyards in the world.

The company produces two lines of vessels: GL (Grand Large) - for lovers of long-distance voyages on the high seas, and sports cruising performance yachts - for connoisseurs of faster vessels. They have recently been complemented by the new Exclusive range which, again following market demand, includes the 17 m (56 ft) and 19 m (63 ft) models.

A few years ago, Fountaine Pajot becomes the majority shareholder of Dufour Yachts, which allowed them to combine their production facilities in La Rochelle.

Dufour models have won the European Yacht of the Year title almost every year for the last 10 years.
